Google launches ‘Compute engine’ service.

Google compute' is a new service from Google, which allows software developers to utilise the vast amount of computing power available from Google's worldwide datacentres.

Designed to complement Google's ‘App-engine' platform, this ‘cloud infrastructure as a service' will allow IT Services organisations and developers to run software applications and large scale computing workloads on Linux-based virtual machines, which are hosted on Google's servers.

Seen as a direct competitor to Microsoft's Azure service and Amazons EC2 platform, Google claims that their service will be offer 50% more value than its closest rivals.

The service is expected to be available within a few a few months once testing is complete.
