As of today, IBM's ‘Sequoia' is officially the world's fastest super computer. With over 1.57 million processor cores capable of processing 16.32 Peta flops, the American based IBM powerhouse overtakes Japan's ‘K Super computer' which can only produce a modest 10.51 petaflops from 705,024 processor cores......
Out of a list of 500, 213 positions were occupied by up by IBM hardware, with 5 of these positions being in the top 10. 372 of the 500 systems are using Intel processors with 63 systems using AMD Operton processing technology. 58 systems use IBM power technology.
IBM also appears to have the most energy efficient system, with Sequoia consuming 7.9 megawatts of energy compared to Japans K Supercomputer which uses 12.6 megawatts.
