Good news for social network fans!

As of today, one of the internet's most popular social hangouts is allowing open registration.

Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard site that was launched back in 2010. Until recently, the only way to join Pinterest was by direct invitation (which could take weeks to process), or an invitation from someone that already had a user account.

Memberships were originally restricted to invitation only, in order to control the volume of user accounts. But thanks to an increase in capacity, Pinterest is now open for everyone to use.

What is Pintrest?

Pinterest is a content sharing website which allows users to create their own ‘Virtual Pinboard' containing images found on the web. If a user finds an image they like on a website, they can ‘pin it' to their board via a bookmarket that can be added to their bookmarks bar.

Users can login with their Twitter and Facebook account login details, or they can register for a new account on the website.
