Surrey County Council has agreed a deal with BT to supply the county with Superfast Broadband.
The 33 million pound deal will ensure superfast network connectivity for both businesses and residential users throughout the county.
There has been a wide discrepancy in broadband access between different parts of Surrey, however the new deal with BT will ensure that the entire region has superfast connectivity by the end of 2014.
BT's Fibre optic broadband service will initially provide connectivity speed of up to 80mps and a 'fibre to premises' service capable of speeds up to 330mps.
It is understood that the government will contribute 1.3 Million towards the project. The rest of the funds will be provided by the local Council (20m) and BT (11.8m).
Surrey Council estimates that that the high-speed internet service will help boost the local economy annually by approximately £28m.
