THE SAME OLD FACES ARE AT THE TOP, BUT WILL THEY LAST THE PACE?
The Our IT Department fantasy Premier league received a record number of entrants for the 2016/2017 season.
23 staff members are competing for the coveted Our IT Department Fantasy Football trophy and £150.00 prize money, which was won AGAIN last season by David Morton and his team ‘5 titles 1 world cup’. At least Dave doesn’t have to put a lot of thought into naming his team every year!
We’ve seen a number of new faces join the company over the last 12 months and I’m pleased to say that most of them have taken the opportunity to join our Fantasy football league. Those of us that don’t like football have taken part in the league anyway so we can go to the end of season curry night!
WHO’S BEEN WINNING THE MANAGER OF THE MONTH AWARD?
Last season, Dean Barns and his team Plastered Penguins won the Manager of the Month trophy a record breaking 4 times before Christmas. But it’s not how you start, it is how you finish. Isn’t that right Dean 🙂
This season has been a different story. So far, the following participants have shared the incredible honour of having the Manager of the Month trophy on their desk, and what a trophy it is to. We spared no expensive on this little beauty, well, no more expensive than £4.99 Buy it now on eBay with free postage anyway.
MANAGER OF THE MONTH WINNERS FOR THE 2016/2017 SEASONS TO DATE.
|August||Jake Palmer||Outsourced FC||168|
|September||David Ingram||Daves Dreamers||216|
|October||Matthew Applegate||Don’t come last||180|
|November||Tom Carroll||TopCat Unleashed||199*|
|December||Padraig Carroll||Old Dog New Tricks||346|
* Tom emailed everyone in the company when he won Manager in the month so he could share his moment of glory with us and rub it in our faces. Needless to say, that’s the only email he’ll be sending out this season 🙂
Our Head of Procurement Padraig Carroll wasn’t in the country to collect his Manager of the Month trophy for December, so here’s a picture of our Director (and Padraig’s brother) Tom collecting the trophy on his behalf.
A VERY UNINTERESTING FACT.
David Morton and his team 5 titles 1 world cup didn’t win the Manager of the Month award once last season, yet he won the league by a comfortable margin!
THE LEAGUE TABLE AS IT STANDS IN JANUARY 2017.
It’s unlike the champion to be top of the league halfway through the season. Usually, he’s just above mid table getting ready to peak in May. Maybe he’s peaked too soon this year and it’s time for someone else to win the trophy?
HONORABLE MENTIONS .
I suppose we should give an honourable mention to our Director Tom Carroll and his team TopCat unleashed for reaching second place and keeping pace with Dave Morton. Tom is definitely going all out to win this year, just like he did last year and the year before that… and the year before that… and the year before that… and still lost.
Matthew Applegate and his team Don’t come last has been very consistent and he will definitely be in the mix at the business end of the season. Matthew finished last season strongly and was unlucky not to win the league.
Another honourable mention goes to Jon Melville and his aptly named team Autopick Utd. Jon will admit himself that he doesn’t know a lot about football, yet here he is in 3rd place and only 55 points behind top of the league. Fair play to you Mr. Melville, we’ll be keeping an eye on your so called auto picked team!
This seasons Dark Horse is Mark Endersby and his Team Like Watching Brazil. According to his colleagues at the St Neots office, Mark is a bit of a Fantasy Football guru and he definitely fancies his chances of winning the coveted title. There’s still plenty of time for Mark to reduce the 62 point gap between himself and top of the league. Watch this space.
SEE YOU AT THE END OF THE SEASON.
Thanks for taking the time to find out more about our incredibly professional Fantasy Football league… The stakes are high and we’ll be sure to publish the final standings on our blog at the end of the season. No doubt this will include a picture of our Director buying himself ANOTHER trophy off eBay because he didn’t win the real thing AGAIN! That’s what we’re all hoping for anyway!
